Senior Frontend developer

We're looking for a curious and product-driven developer to help evolve, design and strengthen the Homerun product experience.

Our mission is to help people find a job that resonates with who they are. Hundreds of companies across the globe use our software to make hiring personal and authentic and streamline their entire hiring process.

We're well underway with this mission, but we need you to take Homerun to the next level. Next to working on our product, you'll also work on optimising and automating business processes.

Your input with regards to anything is just as valuable as anyone else. We're a very close-knit team that always decides together what our next steps will be.

Homerun is an environment where you can learn a lot from us, and where we can learn a lot from you.

What you'll be doing:

Your work varies day-to-day. One day you'll work on refining CSS animations, the other day you will be optimizing existing code and ensuring that state management in Vue.js works as intended.

You write elegant code that others can easily understand. You also don't shy away from explaining your smart code to co-developers so that everyone can learn from it. You're also continuously improving the UX and you have a keen eye for design. Of course you work in your favorite IDE that does exactly what you want, so that you can fully focus on your code.

Our stack

Vue.js, Vuex, Webpack, Laravel, Redis, MySQL, ElasticSearch, AWS, Pusher, en SendGrid are the most important bits of our stack.

Don't take us wrong: we're not married to any of these technologies. Even better: we would be more than happy to get your expert opinion on what technologies are more fitting for our unique use-cases. That's why we're working on replacing our AngularJS code by Vue.js, for example. We're also investigating the need for splitting up our monolith into microservices.

We use Webpack to compile our Javascript, Codeship so we don't have to worry about deployments, New Relic and Sentry to monitor our server and product performance and continuously improve our processes.

Your impact

Your work will be viewed and used by hundreds of thousands of people. Everything you do has a direct impact on the daily workflow of thousands of Homerun users.

Over the last three years, we've built up quite a nice club of companies that use Homerun, among others:

This is what we're looking for

Curiosity is king. We want you to be independent and positive, a problem seeker and a problem solver. An all-rounder with a small ego who values free time outside work just as much as work itself.

Some personal skills we value:

  • A natural curiosity for new technologies and tools

  • A drive along the lines of "this could be better" - and then execute on it

  • A fine eye for detail

  • The ability to communicate your thoughts in a way that everyone understands

As for development skills:

  • You know how to write clean, readable, reusable, modular and scalable JavaScript
  • You have knowledge of Vue.js and Component-Driven Development
  • You have knowledge of Webpack and its ecosystem
  • You know how to write clean and reusable CSS using css-modules and postcss
  • You're not afraid to refactor your code
  • It’s a plus if you do Open Source!

Most of the problems we're solving today with Homerun did not exist a year ago. That's why we value a pro-active attitude above any other skills or experience.

This is what you'll learn

Our team consists of 10 talented people working in development, design, marketing and customer experience who are ambitious and want to inspire each other.

Everything we do is new - we are a young company - which makes it exciting and challenging. A lot of the times you will be working just outside of your comfort zone, which is exactly the place where you learn the most.

And because we're a small team, you get a lot of responsibility and therefore have the freedom to work on what you think is right.

You will be a part of the Development team and collaborate closely with the Customer and Product teams to make Homerun work as smooth as possible for our customers.

Within the Development team you will work directly with:

Bob Kreefft
Creative all-round developer who is concerned with solving technical challenges across the entire breadth of the product.

Matteo Gabriele
Motivated and passionate Frontend developer on a mission to create a clean, re-usable and smart codebase.
